New Problem!

great, a new problem,. i decided to put the motherboard back in its old case seens as the cable wouldnt fit, now ive got a new problem i plug the power in, the comp automaticaly turns on but i can switch it off fine with the button on front of the case, but. i cant turn it back on by pressing that same button, any ideas? also on the diagram in this link

there is a audio header and optical in and aux in ports, do i need to plug anything into these far as i can tell there is nothing to plug them into??

any help would be much appreciated!!

I am not sure what caused it but I have seen this before. Check the cables (esp the pwr supply to MB), and try removing any video card temporarily to make sure the BIOS onboard video isn't interfering. Reset the BIOS if necessary. I know that when I did some of those things I resolved the issue in the past. Worst case, is you have to remove all the components down to CPU and memory then make sure you can access the BIOS, then add the components back one by one until you have it working, or you can reproduce the issue and know what to focus on.

sadly this didnt work, i removed the graphics card tried to boot up same result, i removed everything apart from ram motherboard cpu and still no boot up? any more ideas anyone?

Take the motherboard out of the case and place it on a non-cunductive surface like a dry cardboard box. Connect the PSU and install some RAM and the CPU and try to boot up by touching the two PWR-SW pins (where the power button goes) on the motherboard with a screwdriver. This will eliminate shorting as the problem.

Did you try resetting the CMOS? If so, make sure you power everything off while you change the jumper to the clear setting and back. (Including unplugging the power cord.) I recommend leaving the jumper in the clear position for at least 30 seconds sometimes.

Also, have you tried swapping around the memory modules? It is possible that one went bad, and if the bad area is in the low memory area it could lead to unpredictable results. Swapping modules would change the addressing. If you have other parts to trade in and out, you can also verify each component.
