Hey everyone,

Im looking for a 22" LCD monitor and I came across the Samsung 2253BW. What's really convincing is that it has 2ms and 8000:1 contrast. It is currently on sale for $270.00.

So I would like to know, from those of you who have experience with this monitor, would this be a good purchase? I read alot about bleeding, backlight, and dead pixels...are any of these problems an issue with this model?

Thanks in advance!

Samsung is a top brand for monitors so I expect it will be quality. the price seems a bit high to me though. My 22 in is an off brand, chimei, but I got it for like $220 and that was months ago, I would have though prices would have dropped but maybe because of the 2 ms that might be one of the best.

Be sure to price compare local stores with on-line places to make sure you're getting a good deal. While I don't have that particular monitor, I've got a Samsung 216BW and it's fantastic. This is a very good brand for LCD monitors (just not optical drives).

Sorry Im not sure why I posted this in the 'Build Your Own PC' forum, I thought i was in the video forum...

Everywhere I check, places are selling this monitor for $300+ and other models of Samsungs I find are around $250 (cheapest). Apparently, its the newer model of the 226BW. Ive read nothing but good reviews about Samsung and this model inparticular, I think i might get it :)

Then go for it. However read up on the different panels that samsung makes...

Can someone clarify something for me...

Ive read that having a high dynamic contrast isnt the greatest thing becuase it can make your screen go from light to dark very often.

So is it better to have a higher static contrast rather than a dynamic?

The 2253BW is 1000:1 static and 8000:1 dynamic but should i be looking for monitors that offer 2500:1 contrast?

Here is a good discussion about it:

I just bought one about two weeks ago from Fry's. I like it so far. The only thing I dislike is the silkscreened Energy Star logo. No dead pixels. Included tweaking software is worthless.

Two hundred posts for a review of a cheapo monitor?

It's a very active forum. It's not really a cheapo monitor either since 22" seems to be what most people like to get and Samsung is a very popular brand. So when the new replacement for the 226BW comes out, it's not surprising to see a lot of activity.
