My computer just up and died and i tried everything to get it running. I am looking at just building a new computer and reusing the old drive as a slave but i want the new drive to be sata and the old is ide. Any issues with that??? Here is what i am going to put together any issues?? I just use the computer for dvd and surfing as well as a processor for excel. Any compatibility issues??

yes had a local computer store check the supply and they said it was ok, its time for a new computer. Is there any other way to check the power supply.

They only way to see if it is indeed the psu is to pop in a new one.. You can test one with I believe a voltage meter and it can test ok, but doesn't mean it is.

check at http://www.craigslist.com link it to your town check.. computer forum.. and you might find some local people with stuff to sell. i use them all the time, computer stores use it to used stuff.. hobbyists.. etc.. but watch out for the ever present rip off artists.. i haven't had any problems.. here, got some good stuff really cheap

for $20 more you can get an AM2+ with the new 780G and SB700 and it still supports the 16gig of ram like the other board. you can resue the processor, the memory, and the drive with it and it will remain upgradeable for a while. in addition it has an HD 3K series video built in. so for $100 you got a new computer.
