I want to use my KVM to handle both a pc and a mac. I have a monitor adaptor for the mac, are the mouse and kb the same for both pc and mac?

As far as I know PC and Mac keyboards and mice are interchangeable between each other.

I've had issues with older hardware....a mac G4 on a VGA and PS/2 KVM. The mouse & keyboard worked, but the monitor didn't.
If you have all the hardware, just plug it in and see if it works.

don't hit the windows key when you are in the mac os it will (or did 6 months ago) crash the machine.

Boot the MAC without the KVM but using the monitor/kyb/mouse you are going to use through your switch. Once the kernel picks up the hardware you should be safe to use the KVM switch on your next boot (especially if your have it set to your mac). I know little about mac but enough about linux to realize it hates not having hardware present all the time. This aspect of that os is much improved though and makes up for it by being rock solid (linux that is).

I got a DVI to VGA adaptor and the monitor is working on the KVM.
I got a USB to PS2 adaptor for the kb and mouse and nether is working.
I tried a direct connection, bypassing the KVM and using another KB and mouse with another USB adaptor and neither works.
I think I have a bad USB (both of them) port. Is their another test I can perform?
BTW I just got this G4 from Macofalltrades.com. The system boots up but there is no response from the mouse or KB.

I used the usb mouse I keep in my laptop bag and the G4 works fine. Just too many adapters.
So now I just have to go get a mac KB.
I stole wife v.3.0's wireless/usb mouse and will use that for the mac, gave her a wireless/ps2 for her PC.
The monitor works great on the KVM and thats the big thing anyway.
Back in the game!:D
