i am setting up my new build.. got the Bios Done Tonight.!!

just collecting info, if i have a partition on HD1 say E\ that isn't on HD2, will 'RAID1' copy data designated to E/HD1 to HD2 that has no E/

i heard it best to partition each HD separately with Vista, then set up the RAID1, something about Vista only 'Quick' Partitioning Raid1 2xHD's, and it doesn't last

i hope to get that done tomorrow.. and get it on line, updates caught up, and get some of my old computers data transfered to storage on the new build.. and install Crysis

thanx

You need to setup the Raid in the BIOS Before installing Vista...

NOT ENOUGH AVAILABLE SPACE TO TO CREATE A VOLUME

I have 2x 500gb HD's, i set the volume at 465.8 as was suggested, i tried less, where does the 34.2gb go..??

what volume should i set it to, and where do i create the drivers for Vista64 during OS instillation.. i no longer trust the Manual. i no longer trust any ASUS download system

is there a better Raid1 system i can use during OS installation for RAID1 in Vista64

i assume OS will ask at the right spot from what i read, i just dont have drivers i trust

when o go back in bios to redo the Volume it says it is bootable and normal... should i have put mote volume in it.. i have 500 each

not enouggh space avaible to create a volume
-----------------------------------------------------------------

i set it for 465.8 which is what came up in the space when i created the RAID1

what now

i found out you cant alter 1 HD in a RAID1 from the other, sorry about the newbie questions, but the learning curve is pretty steep in here.

I've merged your threads together since they concern the same issue.

NOT ENOUGH AVAILABLE SPACE TO TO CREATE A VOLUME

You must start with totally blank, unpartitioned, unformatted drives.

Back to the basics - WHY do you want to use RAID 1? I would MUCH rather put the second drive in an external housing and use it for backups.
