I want to back up some .img files onto a Dual Layer DVD disc. I have one image in particular that is slightly larger than 4.1 GB, and the ImgBurn program gives an error that the file is too large for the ISO9660 file system.

Can I burn the DVD under just the UDF file system, rather than using the default ISO9660 + UDF? Will that cause readability problems or anything?

Thx.

ISO is added to UDF for backwards compatiliby, generally.

Most Windows OSes can at least READ UDF 1.02

Windows 98/Me (Read) 1.02
Windows 2000 (Read) 1.02, 1.50
Windows XP/2003 (Read) 1.02, 1.50, 2.01
Windows Vista (Read+write) 1.02, 1.50, 2.0x, 2.50, (Read) 2.60.

As long as you aren't looking to use this as a RW disk, I would go with UDF 1.02 so that a vast majority of Windows OSes can read it. You won't miss ISO too badly...
