Getting only a 2 beep post on new build w/quality components. Any pointers for isolating problem. All were checked for compatibility...unless I missed something?
Antec 900 case. Antec TP3 650 P.S. Intel 975XBx2KR M.B. Intel Q6700 CPU w/Masscool 8W533 fan. 4 sticks 2048MB Corsair XMS DHX 6400C5DHX (Also tried 6400C4DHX, (w/same result). VGA EVGA 320-P2-N811-AR 8800GTS Video Card. (2) WD Caviar 250GBSATA-3G HD's. Plextor SuperMulti SATA combo drive. Sony Floppy drive. Samsung 22" Monitor.

Power on gets all fans to run, M.B. light on, Video card fan runs, DVD has power, but post stops @ 2 beeps. Have tried all possible combos of both memories...same result. Any suggestions or thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Just read HAL 9000's isolation test procedure & will try that next.

Thnx

does you video card have a power connector? did you connect it? Did you plug the 4x2 pin to the MB?

Yes, card has 6 pole connector & P.S. has match, marked PCI Express (card installed there). M.B. has 24 pin, 4 pin, molex, & 8 pin plug w/matching connector from P.S.

thnx.

Hi Xena.......tried all combos of 1 & 2 sticks of both memorys w/no effect. Just finished trying Hal 9000's component check out of the case w/all memory combos, w/same results....EXCEPT no audible beep code, board light on, CPU & video card fan runs.

Can I trouble you for correct CMOS clearing procedure??

Thnx.

Unplug the power supply.
Find the round flat battery on the motherboard.
Pry the battery free from its connector. Note the orientation of the “+” and “-” on the battery.
Count to 30 slowly. (Some motherboards take a few hours for CMOS to clear.)
Replace the battery maintaining polarity.

If something was mucked up in BIOS that should reset it to defaults.

I tried the CMOS clear.....still the same response @ power on. I'll pull battery again & let it sit today.
Counting to 30 was tough.

Thnx
