I don't want to crunch any more packets for RC5, so I've been hoping that the key would be found. But every week, my hopes are dashed. It just seems like such a silly project in light of all the other more socially "valuable" projects out there. (protein folding, genome project, OGR, even SETI is more valuable IMHO)

But I just can't seem to get myself to switch over to the other projects while there is even a shadow of a minutia of a chance that I may find the key and win the money.

Oh well, I guess it's just another week of Distributed's dreary, old client cranking away in my system trays. Meanwhile, other people get to see proteins dance while their computer folds them over and over. Maybe this will be the week....

I've been running Genome@home for about a month now. I used to run SETI@home but found it to be as much of a waste of CPU cycles as the pointless number crunchers like RC5. Aliens and secret codes? I'd rather help science.

Yeah, but the secret code offers a chance to win a couple of grand. (Hence my continued use of Distributed's client. Although OGR is a worthy scientific pursuit.)

another week goes by, and no key is found.

Sell your cycles or storage out to a company any buy yourself a lottery ticket. :) I want them to crack RSA's best encryption, that would be interesting. We use 128-bit, but encryption algorithms are wild and beyond me.
