Hi,

I'm looking to buy a new laptop and most come with Vista installed.

Problem is I have a whole bunch of software and scripts which I've bought over the years and which run on XP.

If I get a Vista install am I going to lose all these programs because they won't install or run on Vista?

So many are related to my business that I would have to consider deleting Vista and installing XP if this were going to be a problem.

I would say 99% of your programs and scripts will run just fine on Vista. You might have a few problems with certain programs/scripts, but I would hazard a guess that it would be minimal at best.

Easiest way to know is to try and look on the software manufacter's website and see what it says.

Also might want to search microsoft website for answers.

If all else fails, do a search for "vista (and the software title)" that should give you an answer.

With a lot of software and Vista you can run it in a "compatibility mode". I would hazard a guess that there is very little software written for Win XP that will not run on Vista. JMO
