Well I need a new monitor for my Vista machine...

I was wondering what a good monitor would be; I am looking for an LCD unit that can play dvds (and maybe blu-rays in the near future) and well as high end games...

this computer is mostly a gaming rig but also does mutimedia......NOTE: I am looking for a unit that is 20-24 inches and widescreen....however I have a strict budget and can not spend too much

thanks for the help!

What is your budget?

I suggest looking at a saumsung 22", or in particular a samsung 245bw. I have one and it works wonders.

However, I suggest you go into a retail store such as bestbuy and check it out yourself first. It'll also be easier to return in case there is a problem.

about 200 if I can but its slightly flexible.....I have been looking on eBay for sometime now, I found a few 22s that are around that price (used) but I am scared of purchasing a lemon

If you're around the $200 level that will limit you to 19" wide screen LCDs.

Make sure it has HDCP support and comes with a DVI cable ( We've seen problems with LCD screens that don't come with their own DVI cables. ) and that it's Certified for Vista.

This Samsung should give you a good idea of what to look for even if it's not exactly what you want :

edit : That Acer that vtfanmv has listed looks like a good deal.

what would be a better display, that 22" acer or the BenQ G2000W 20.1 display....

the BenQ is 30$ cheaper but 2 inches smaller....wouldnt that mean that it had a finer picture?

EDIT: i am liking that acer model....but on top of my question ^^^ also what would be better, the acer al2016wbbd 20" wide screen or that 22" one from newegg?

once again this will be used for gaming and multimedia use

The Acer 20" is the exact same as the 22", besides the extra two inches of course. Definitely worth to $30 or whatever it is for those two inches.

Can't comment on the BenQ, but the Acer 22" is great and I love it. It is cheap because it is a no-frills monitor (no usbs, no speakers, limited swivel capabilities), but the monitor itself is beautiful and well made.

Yes, I am close to pulling the string on this Acer 22"....but I am worried that 22" is TOO big!

it looks massive in a video review I just watched!

It definitely felt huge when I first took it out of the box and for the first few days, but I'm used to it now. And there is definitely no such thing as "too big".
