Hey everybody,

I saw this feature at another forum. When you are making a new thread and you type in the title of the thread, a section on the page shows threads that have similar titles and topics. We always complain about people not searching and this might be a way to fix that. It may be useless for forums like General Discussion or BYOPC where it is OK to have many similar threads (eg "Happy Birthday" threads or "My New Build" threads), but maybe in certain forums where lots of similar questions get asked over and over again it may cut down on the repeats. I just thought the administrators may want to take a look at this feature if they haven't already.

Scroll down to the bottom of any thread - see the "Similar Threads" section?

Automatic Similar Thread Search
Setting this option will cause a search for similar threads to be automatically done when a new thread is posted. These similar threads are then linked to from the newly posted thread's page. This can have an effect on performance. Yes No

"Yes" is checked.

Computer acronyms and the XP tip of the day (from 11/5/2001) are definitely similar to this thread ;)

Yeah I see that, but this is something different. This is a section that shows up when you post a new thread.

See the example.

Tell ya what - you want it, find out how to do it for me. If it's a setting in the admin control panel, I can do it. If it's a code hack, that has to go through Drisley.

All right, I found it. Not sure if this is too complicated, but here it is.

Dris is gonna have to call the shots on that one.

I think that might place a lot of additional load on our database server.

Which we don't need. Thanks.
