This one here.
I want to copy and burn from the camera and make dvds.
How is the best way possible?
Right now I have it hooked up to this............

I cannot get that to work , since I am not really clear on how to do that.
Any help is appreciated.
If I have to go buy a piece of hardware somewhere , please send me a link to the store.
I work in the Minneapolis area.

Thanks,

Can you capture the video with the software that came with the hauppauge unit?

If so, you're part way there.

Make sure the yellow, red, and white ends for the AV cable on the camera are connected to the IN yellow, red, and white jacks on the capture unit. yellow is video, red is right audio, white is left audio.

Once connected, play back the footage on the camera. That's what you'll be capturing. Then it's up to the software.

I have the camera hooked up via component cables.
I only have one side of the audio.
That is what came with the camera.
The cd only has the drivers for XP Media Center Edition.
So I went here and downloaded the software.
http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/support_pvrusb2.html#driver
The software came with WinTV for video capture, but even when I install it I do not see it anywhere on my pc.
Now this hardware seems to be only compatible with a pc running XP and Media Center. but my pc also has Media center on.
Altgough it is a new version , I would imagine.
I cannot see the hardware through "My Computer", but I can see it attached in the hardware screen.
Do I need to install different software from this site?
I am in the dark about this stuff, but I really want to learn.
I have some movies I am just itchin`to burn of our recent vacation.
Any info in the right direction will help.
My pc has a "Movie Maker" program built in but it does not see the camera.
I believe it won`t pick it up because it is an analog signal.
It should work with software that will decode from analog to digital , but again I do not know what to do in this situation.
Thanks Force Flow for your help that is forthcoming.

Try a file search for TV. It may have gotten tossed in an obscure place.

I don't see anything that jumps out at me that would *prevent* the software from being used on XP with the media center. There *is* software that works *only* on media center, but I haven't seen something that goes the other way around.

You wouldn't see the capture device listed in "my computer", as it's not a device that acts as a drive, though you would see it in the device manager somewhere.

I have the Hauppauge PVR150 WME edition. The only thing the WME does is allow you to use a remote to control the unit. I have it installed in XP Pro and in Kubuntu and it works perfectly. I use VLC to capture the video in Kubuntu and then I convert the video to a iso file, which I then burn to DVD. Works perfectly. I have not actually done this in Windows yet, but with the software provided with the unit, it should be easy to do. Next time I boot to Windows, I'll give it a shot to see what's involved and get back to you. Note: I don't use windows very often.
