8800HT or the 4850?

I'm trying to pick out a new video card. I've always been a buyer of nVidia and don't have any experience at all with ATI cards.

If I'm going to be running a DFI BloodIron/Core 2 Duo E8400, what would be the overall better card to get? Friends of mine have had trouble with ATI before, telling my that it would be stupid to get the 4850 over the 8800GT, so now I'm not really sure what to do here.

And thoughts on this?

I just spent a few minutes with Google and from what I found the 4850 will perform approx. 20%-30% better than the 8800GT. Is the performance gain worth the extra cost...well that's something that only the buyer can decide I guess. Now if you went for a different mobo like the ASUS P5K-Pro and also decided on the 4850 GPU you could eventually go CrossFire if you wanted to in the future. Not sure if that would interest you or not but there ya go.
