Okay, so we have a computer that pretty much just serves as a server with two big 500GB externals, and a 200GB drive.

All of these computers were seeing the "server" computer just fine, with all of the drives, but two days ago one of the computers could not see one of the 500GB externals. I assumed it couldn't access any information from that 500GB, because it couldn't see it, but I checked today, and it CAN access information, but it just can't see the folder in My Network Places. Does anyone know what is going on? I had a shortcut pointing to a program on that 500GB and it can access it, but it isn't showing up in my network places.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

EDIT: I just deleted the all the folders for the server in 'my network places' thinking it might try and refresh them all. Now I can't see ANY of the server. How do I refresh this list, anyways?

EDIT 2: I'm thinking about unplugging the ethernet cord until all the network places disappear, then reconnecting the cord. Does this seem like a good idea? Or am I just going to lose all of my connections to the network?

EDIT 3: Lol... 3 edits... Okay... I can see everything on the server now, by adding network places. But I can't see another computer now =(.

What operating systems are the PC's running, including this "server"?

Please let us know which Operation Systems are you using on your Computers and Servers?

There is no use of unplugging the ethernet cable from the computer since you are able to access the Server and the External Drive and deleting the folder will not help.

If your Client Computers connected to the Server are using WinXP OS,may be the browser service is not started in the computer management of that perticular client computer, thats why you are not able to see the Server in its Network Places.

If you are able to access the Server from your client computers than there is nothing wrong with the connectivity.

If they're all running XP SP2 then just go ahead and run the network wizard on all PC's again. Once that is done reboot all the systems starting with the "server" and then do your clients.
