Hey,

I've had an ongoing probably for the past few weeks. I suspect it has to do with my router.

My connection disconnects every hour or so and reconnects. This is getting annoying especially when I'm playing an online game.

I have a dlink rouiter and am not sure why it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. I think maybe the IP is refreshing hourly?

Any one have knowledge of my situation or know what might be wrong?

Thanks! :D

Update the router firmware, do a hard reset on the router, and reconfigure it.

With that said, I had a D-Link DI-624 that would reboot spontaneously every hour. Nothing I could do would fix it so I tossed it in the trash.

Add me to the list of D-Link disconnects. I tossed 2 DI-524's; one from a customer and one was my son's.

Interesting. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing the problem.
Mines a dlink-604.

I'll try the reset as well as updating firmware.

Aside from that, what routers are you having good experience with now?

I only stock and furnish Linksys if I'm supplying the router. Netgear is at the top of my "don't use" list followed by D-Link. I've had no problems with Belkin equipment that customers have supplied themselves and, surprisingly, Trendnet equipment has proven to be very reliable. Trendnet is my choice for the "price conscious" buyer. (That's the guy that doesn't have any money!)

I am most comfortable with Linksys routers - and I'm a bit picky about models and revisions too.

In general, consumer grade routers are cheap disposable units that don't last forever. It's kinda like DVD burners - if you get a year out of them that's about all you can expect for the price.
