I was wondering how much to charge for a Flash-based website?
I have never charged anyone for making a website so, I don't even know where to begin.

1) How much experience do you have?
2) How much time do you think it will take do to? Take that estimate and double it.
3) Is this for a friend, or is it an actual client?

Depending on experience and how quickly you can develop something, the usually range for a hobbyist is around $15-$40 /hr (the more experience and faster you can develop, the higher the price, as long as quality doesn't suffer). I usually take my time estimate, and a mid-range hourly rate, and give a flat rate with 1/3 up front, then next third at a milestone, and the next third on completion and delivery.

The question should be what is it worth to him? That is the definition of value.

If that does not answer your question then what is your time worth?

That is excellent advice. I've taken on so many different type projects in the past,
from woodworking to website design and doubling the initially estimated time
is quite often what it actually takes. The more technical and complex the project,
the more your chances are of taking 3 to 4 times as long as you initially expect.

For a complex project such as website design, it might be wise to use Force Flow's
lower range of prices to charge and estimate it will take you 3 times as long to
complete as you initially anticipate.
