Ip Conflict

Greetings all,


I room with 2 of my best buddies and we all own PS3's as well as 1 wireless comp and 1 wired xbox360 and 1 wired computer (my main machine)

We have a Cable modem DHCP
connected to my linksys wireless router..

But its like we might as have one modem cause everytime one connects to the linksys router the other one will get kick out and on my PC i get a IP conflic Error with windows Vista
the same thing with my buddies comp

Its really frustrating is there something i need to do in the linksys utility or something

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The cable modem connects to the Internet/WAN port of the Linksys router, and you set the Linksys to obtain IP address automatically. The Linksys DHCP server should be enabled, the default 50 addresses is plenty. All clients connect to the router either wired or wireless, and should be set to obtain IP address automatically.

ok so under the setup tabs - basic setup its reads
Auto Config DHCP so its reads correct

I cant find an option for the DHCP server?

DDNS servises are disabled
Mac Adress clone is disabled
Under advanced routing its set to gateway..should I change it to router

please let me know what i need to do to so that i dont get this Ip conflict..

last night only 1 play station could be online at a time and its so freaking frustrating!

Are all clients set to obtain IP address automatically? Is the modem plugged into the correct port?

Do a hard reset on the Linksys to return it to factory defaults. You do this by unplugging the power, hold the reset button in, keep holding the button, power it up and wait 30 seconds before releasing the button. This will force the default 50 DHCP.

When you get it working, I would highly recommend you change your SSID and apply some wireless security.

I went in to my router utility and did a factory reset!!!
is this the same

Its working better now but i we still have some testing to do 1 of the playstation is having trouble getting internet!

ok so now we can get 2 PS3's connected at a time but not 3 it cannot get an IP address from the Router and it is set to obtaing it auto..

Im going to try a hard reset holding the button down for 30 secs lets see what happens.

ok so this is what i notice.

I guess the wireless connections is only giving out 1 IP because if i connect wireless and my friend connects wireless with our PS3''s then 1 will always get disconnected and we end up loosing connection to the host of the game server we are trying to play (MSO)

which tells me my friend and myself have the same IP but if i connect it wired and the other wireless then it works.. but Damn why i cant understand why this is happening

both the PS3's are set to obtain and auto IP

I really dont know what else to do

The router is connected correctly
The Ps3's are set to obtain auto IP
the router is set to DHCP so it should assign IPs just fine

What else can i try i dont know what else it could be.

What exact model and version is the Linksys, and what firmware revision are you running?

Wireless G Broadband router with SpeedBooster Model WRT54GS version 5

Firmware version - v1.50.5

1.52.5 is current, I'd recommend an upgrade, see if that helps.

I should of done that 1st instead of pulling my hair out
