Generation Kill (http://www.hbo.com/generationkill/?ntrack_para1=feat_main_title) starts this Sunday (7/13) and it looks very good. 7 part mini-series about soldiers in the Iraq War from the same guys who did HBO's The Wire. Trailer looks promising and I am psyched for this one.

Trailer looks interesting.

Might be worth watching if I had HBO.

Give us a review if you do watch it.

Will do. I really, really enjoyed HBO's Band of Brothers some years ago and that did so well I believe it was released on DVD. If this turns out to be as successful then I'm sure it will be on DVD eventually as well.

I watched Band of Brothers when it was on HBO, and had to buy the dvd's when they came out. I've actually watched that mini-series a few times now and have been meaning to give it another go.

I'll watch it as long as the director tries to keep his own political opinions out of the show. that ruins it for me.

Does the show look like it has a political agenda? Does it look pro-war?..anti-war? ...or does it show both sides? I'm going to give the series a try.

I recorded it last night on the DVR and will watch it tonight. I hope it doesn't have a political agenda. Hopefully it's just about a bunch of soldiers doing the best they can to survive and stay sane in a place that is FUBAR.

Watched part 1 (7 part mini-series). Starts pretty slow and wasn't sure if this show was going to be my cup of tea. But then as I watched it I remembered Band of Brothers starting slow as well. I think the idea is for the viewers to get introduced to the characters and to get to know them a bit before all the action is thrown at them. It's hard to get to know the personality of a character when your wowed by battle scenes from the get go. I think this is a good idea...it sure worked for Band of Brothers.

Still too early to tell.

Band of Brothers starting slow as well

Yeah it did. When I watch the series straight, I have to stuggle to stay awake for at least the first 2 episodes.

Does this series look like it might shape up similar to Band Of Brothers?

How are the characters? Do they have any depth and distint personalities to them yet?

So its actors and Hollywood scripts and not real stories about real soldiers? Phoooey :p Is Oliver Stone or Michael Moore behind this?

Yes to actors and scripts. No to Oliver Stone and Michael Moore.

I bought the series on dvd, and just finished watching it.

I must say that I loved it, and am already planning on watching it again.

As a Marine, I like how they did it, and when you get the dvd set, you can see the interview with the actual Marines and the reporter.

Very well done.

(in my best Gene Wilder voice in Young Frankenstein) "It's alive! It's alive!!!".

Do you get it? You know....bringing this thread back from the dead. Ha! I kill myself sometimes.

LOL.

I know, but it still deserved to be said. It really was that good of a series.
