Hi guys,
Well I thought Id give Vista a try now ever since SP1 and ive been hearing good things about it. What I'm wondering is, can I install vista on the same hdd as my xp using a different partition? Or is it recommended to install on another hdd? I have 3 hdd so its not going to be a problem. Any suggestions?

You can indeed install XP and Vista on the same HD. I would recommend that you go ahead and create your partitions first then install instead of letting the Vista installation DVD do the partitioning.

You can do it in XP with the right software. HERE (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/easeuspartitionman.html) is a freeware application that will do all you need and more.

No problem. If you have any questions about how to partition your hard drives just post back. Also it might be a good idea to create a full backup of your HD the way it sits right now. There is a handy little freeware app that I use in our shop that will let you do this and you can make a nice BartPE disc for recovery purposes.
DriveImage XML (http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm)
DriveImage XML BartPE Plug In (http://www.runtime.org/peb.htm)
BartPE (http://www.nu2.nu/download.php?sFile=pebuilder3110a.exe)
You may need drivers for your SATA or RAID controller card if applicable.

Sorry I'm a nub, but what are BartPE? I'm guessing they are image files split into multiple volumes so you can fit them on a dvd. Insight?
EDIT
sorry for double post :(
