problem updating AVG free 8.0

I've been having this problenm for about a week now. I try to update AVG, it says it retrieves the update, then still reports errors; anti-virus database is out of date and anti-spyware database is out of date. I installed a new hard drive (merely because I was running out of space) installed a new OS and when I installed AVG, the same problem occurs?!?!

Anyone else with this problem?

Uninstall AVG, then reinstall the latest version. Make sure your firewall is allowing the AVG modules.

had the same trouble, 3 nights ago i was checking my mail, WAPPO, lights whistles and peeps red screen, virus warning windows kicked in and started working the system, no luck this is a new pc station now ,hell i even have vista but not AVG as the renewal shut off my freeware but did not fully turn on the new one, out the 90.00 but live and learn sam
