Games Glitchy

Alienware m9700
AMD Turion 64 ML-40 2.2 GHz
2X 500GB WD HDD
2 GB DDR RAM
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS Dual 512MB w/SLI

Before I get started with the problem I have been having, here is something that I noticed that was weird. When I click on Properties on My Computer and brought up the System Properties box, it showed that my system had around 750 mhz. When I it came up again it is saying 2.21 GHz now. Why would that happen?

I have been having issues with playing games even simply games like GTA: SA on my notebook. I use my notebook for gaming because it's better than my desktop right now. The main games I play is Counter-Strike: Source and COD4. When I play the games get glitchy for a few secs and its hard to play and than runs smooth again. It does that every 5-10 mins or so. It's very annoying and I would like to get this fixed ASAP. I upgraded the drivers for my video card already thinking it might be the problem but no luck.

Any suggestions or anyone know who I could fix this?

I think something might be overheating. First, blow all the dust out of your computer. Your CPU may me throttling back its cycles per second because it is overheating. Check your HSF, heatsink and fan. Install monitoring software that can track your CPU's temperature and its cycles per second before you go taking anything apart. Same with your graphics cards for its temperatures.

I downloaded a temp monitor just now. I attached the temps. I suppose Red is bad. The video GPU is overheated it looks like? Whats the best way to cool it down?

EDIT: I cleaned out the vents and inside the notebook and it was pretty dusty. It's Video GPU is now in the yellow around in the 50s. So hopefully it will run smoother.

You might invest in a laptop cooler to keep things under control. Try using the laptop in front of a deskfan to test the theory.

I'm actually using one. I don't really care for it though. Anyone recommand any?

There's not a whole lot you can do with laptops, I used a cooler under mine and it cooled it by a degree at best. The best thing you can do is blast some compressed air in there to get any dust out. Other than that just have to live with high temperatures. I suppose you could mount an industrial sized fan on the side of your laptop.

Getting the dust out helped out a lot. I always forget about clean the inside of computers. CSS runs smooth and now I am actually doing the killing instead of getting killed.
