translating text

many years ago, microsoft works for dos, don't remember which version, but you could type some text, and then click on language and it would translate the text to which ever language you selected, and be able to print it.

what I need to know is how to do it today.

I have a word doc file that is in german and I need to translate it to english

any ideas, I am using office 2000.

If you have Firefox you may also want to take a look at the qtl 12 add-on.
Like Google it won't retain formatting but if that's not important it should be OK.

it looks like a good reason to fire up the old dos machine and try to find that old floppy disk for word for dos, it was so simple that way.
I know I still have that stuff around here someplace.

Looks to be set up for office 2007, but I seem to recall something similar appearing in office 2000.
