I downloaded 3 free popular anti virus softwares: AVG, AVAST AND AVIRA ANTIVIR from download.com, and I don't know should I install all of them or just one on a single XP computer. Thanks!

You can install as many as you like, but only one active scanner. The others can be set to do manual scans only.

Personally, I just use one, and I believe most do too.

Never hurts to have a second opinion, updated of course (one active). I use one AV & several Spyware manual scanner programs

Like shadowpr said, only one of the antivirus programs can be the active scanner at any given time. If you install more, they'll clash and detect each other's signature database as being viruses. Any of the 3 you listed are good (and free)....just pick one to install and then add a malware scanner or two, like Spybot, AdAware, AVG Antimalware, and you should be good to go.

Me personally, I use Avast for antivirus, Spybot for malware, and Threatfire just for the heck of it because another friend told me to try it out to see how it was, and I don't have problems very often.

You only need one. 3 is over kill. The better idea would be learn how to keep your pc clean and not get infected.
