DVR's such as the Motorolla DCT6416 are limited to 160GB due to their firmware. Anything bigger won't be recognized. Not sure about other makes/models.

Not sure what you have for a DVR, but here's a page regarding the Motorolla DVR's: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_use_a_Motorola_DVR/Firmware_and_Software

I'm not familiar with tivo and related hardware, but I found these items while searching:

http://www.dvrupgrade.com/dvr/stores/1/instantcake_nomodel.cfm. It's a program you purchase for $19.95 that will format your new drives for you. Here's a how-to page:http://www.dvrupgrade.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5 .It seems a little involved, but not too difficult perhaps.

I also found [http://www.mfslive.org/download.htm] and this appears to be a similar program except it's free. You'll probably want to read the faq's and perhaps visit the forum to get a good understanding of what's involved.

Hopefully someone else will read this thread and offer some hands-on advice. Hope it works out for you, engineer :)

Also - here's tivo forum you may find helpful http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/index.php

No problem. Post the results you get. I'd be interested to know how it goes.

Good luck :)
