I just replaced my old Sony IDE dvd drives with 2 Asus DRW 2014L1T SATA drives. My old Sonys had master/slave jumpers, but the Asus do not. I use the drives to copy CDs from drive: D to drive:E using Roxio (to make multiple copies of same disc). Since there are no jumpers on the SATAs, roxio cannot read the E:drive and gives me a message: Source and Destination are not compatible. I am able to copy from D:drive to D: drive or from E:drive to E:drive, but would like to go from D to E. The IDE drives allowed me to copy in this manner. Is there anything I can do to fix this or am I stuck on copying on only one drive? Thanks for any help. Erik.

There is no master/slave relationship with SATA. You probably need a newer version of Roxio or some other copying app.

Try this:

I have a plextor Sata DVD burner, and use Nero 6 with no problems recognizing the drive, as does CDBurnerXP.

Same here..One Plextor SATA + 1 Lite-On SATA. No problems reading from one to the other.

dude ..there is no option in the sata for the primary and the master, you have to login in to the sata menu from the bios. and assign your drive as mirror for the secondary drive.

vaporub - that is not applicable here. These are optical drives, not hard drives.
