What do you mean your usb porst are missing?

What motherboard do you have, or if this is a prebuilt, what is the make and model?

suppose that was vague - my USB device are not reconised - I get a malfunction message each time I plug in a device.
I have diconnected printer, DVD writer, I have a ethernet card converter which is a USB device which works as I'm using it here. My printer on the rear USB isn't working nether is my USB DVD writer and at the front of the USB machine 500 gig storeage and USB pen.

So the only usb ports not working are the ones in the rear?

Have you tried only having one usb device at a time, and tried all usb ports?

What motherboard do you have, or if this is a prebuilt, what is the make and model?

Are there any yellow marks in device manager?

Have you changed anything recently?

Tried a system restore to a date before this started?

1 At the rear one USB was working = but Ive done a daft thing deleted all in device manager - thinking when I reboot all will reinstall - now I have no internet. Using my sons for this....!

2 Yeah Ive tried disconnecting one at a time no joy

3 make/mode gigabyte GA-8STXC ( Fujitsu Siemens)

4 no yellow marks

5 it all came about when I install an all in one printer scanner (epson)
DX8400

6 system restore dosen't work cos I am always using storage devices etc..!

just to add - i'm running XP pro (1 gig ram) processor P4 2.2

Have you uninstalled the all in one software?

Try reinstalling the motherboard drivers: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/Driver_Model.aspx?ProductID=1359

You can also try to "Scan for Hardware Changes" in Device Manager under USB Controllers. If any are found, you can "Update Drivers" for the ones that are found if it's not done automatically.

some good advice here - - dug-out driver CD last night but it froze am about to download motherboard drivers this morning.

I'm using my sons laptop here (WF) this actually runs from my main computer the one I'm having problems with. Seems strange that I can't connect to the net from my main computer cos it can't see USB drivers (I am using a USB converter to ethernet device 10/100 RJ45 Ethernet LAN to USB 2.0 Adapter)(my original ethernet card was playing up 6 months ago)
