Hi,
Friend has blaster worm.
I have read Symantecs removal proceedure, but I cannot get past the log in screen even in safe mode. It just does nothing when I click on any name listed in the log in screen.
Is ther a way to get past log in screen to install blaster removal tool.
If I could just even get to a command prompt that would work. But "safe mode iwith command prompt" I cannot get to becase it freezes up at log in screen before it gets to command prompt.
XP Home edition.
Laptop, no floppy drive.

HELP!

You could download and burn Ultimate Boot CD on another computer, then run iton your friend's computer. UBCD has virus scan programs.

Hi Cmichael258,
ok downloaded and have good copy on cd. How do I get a command prompt that i can access a USB flash drive? I have the fix for blaster on the flash drive and want to access it. I find Ultimate boot disk very difficult to navigate (even to understand what it is asking)
to what I need...a plain old command prompt that can see my flash drive and be directed to it.
Anyone know how to get a command prompt from a bootable CD. And what bootable CD program should i use?

Wrong Ultimate Boot CD. You need UBCD for Windows. It boots into a GUI with USB support.

You will need a generic (not name brand OEM-specific) XP CD with at least SP1 to build it.
