I have gone and pruned out my registry a few times being extremely careful. Usually after uninstalling something I will try to track any parts that are left behind. Knock on wood, nothing bad has come of it.
I am now looking for an app to cleanthe registry. Problem is i fear that they will do more damage then good.
Does anybody know of a good registry cleaner?
thank you

or a really good tutorial on "how to".

Another vote for Ccleaner. It is generally accepted that it doesn't "over clean" your system, plus it allows you to make a "backup" of your changes. I do recommend a System Restore point first, too.

Don't use Uniblue Registry Booster.

I stepped on it and tried using Uniblue Registry Booster's free down load. Didn't like it and now can't uninstall it, can't delete. Now it is blocking me from accessig my ISP (had to use IE to get here). I know this has been debated before but if act like malware, won't uninstall in a normal fashion and basicaly hold you up for ranson (i.e. buy my program or else) then in my book it is malware. My system is so fouled up now I can't even get to a restore point to recover from this program.

Now tryingCC Cleaner; slim edition: (http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds/downloading-slim) in hopes of recovering. Fingers crossed, jjj

John. Try using malwarebytes to get rid of that registry booster crap.
www.malwarebytes.org

If that doesn't work start a new thread and we can have a go at getting rid of it with some other tools.
