ISSUE: USB 2 devices not running at 2.0 on usb 2.0 portted computer

DISCUSSION: Have several "USB 2.0" devices..when initially pluigged into "USB 2.0" ports on my comput get "device cld perform faster on usb 2.0 port" message. Computer= Dell desktop with P4 2.8 ghx chip/ 2.0 gb pc ram. Control panel shows many entries under usb devices..one of which- usb 2.0 controller..comput has 6 usb ports and none allow the external device to run at 2.0 speed. WIN XP sp3= OS.:o

QUESTION: what is causing and how can it be corrected?

Check in bios to make sure you have usb set to Hi-Speed, not full speed.

this dell bios (version A02) has only (2) usb parameters:

usb emulation (choices= on/off/no boot)

usb controller (choices=on/off)

i have both set to:on

tried usb emulation to "off" and windows wldnt boot at all!

Is this a PCI card in your computer? or a self powered hub? I had this happen with USB 2.0 hub and I had to throw it out.
