Time for a replacement mouse?

Hey all,

Yet another question for the gurus. I have a Razer Diamondback mouse at home and have had it since early 2006 so it's beginning to get a little old. I do some light gaming on it and the usual web surfing- nothing too serious. Well I just notice for the past week or so that my left click button sometimes double clicks when I single click. It doesn't happen constantly but it does it enough to annoy in IRC,Firefox, and my game that I play. I tried turning down the double click sensitivity to see if that would do anything and unfortunately it still happens. Tried some canned air underneath the left click button in the small space and no long term results neither. Think the problem is a little more complicated than dust or mouse sensitivity? Am I best off trying to replace the mouse when I can? Thanks all once again!

How about getting another mouse from Razer;)

So I assume you believe the mouse is failing? I have to be very particular with the mouse I buy. I have small hands with big fingers so I tend to need a small or thin mouse with buttons easily accessible not too bunchy. Kind of weird but it makes my gaming life easier :P

Could try the mouse on another pc. If it does the same thing then you'd have a better idea if its failing.

It's failing. I've had a couple of mice do the same thing.

:( So sad... I really liked this mouse too. I'm looking into the Diamondback 3G or the Lachesis right now. I think the Lachesis is a bit much for my needs so the Diamonback seems like a good draw

Seems as if this is a known issue with Razer mice specifically. Got this off a newegg review:

"After almost exactly one year of owning this mouse, the left button starts to have some issues. The left mouse button has the "Razer Syndrome" that i've read on the internet some time ago, which is when the button double clicks when you only click it once. Plus, when holding down the left mouse button the 'holding down' action is deactivated and turns to another click, which i must say is not good in an fps. Still getting the double clicking problem as i type."

Over 2.5 yrs. is pretty good service if the mouse is used a lot.

Yeah I guess it did its job pretty well. I just don't want to buy another mouse and this problem happen sooner... Anything out on the market that's comparable in SIZE and performance to the Razer Diamondback?

After some research through the Microsoft and Logitech brand mice, I decided to go with ol reliable, just with some updated technology.The Razer Diamondback 3G and bought my first "gaming" mousepad while I was at it. The Razer Goliathus space-friendly Control pad.
