My wife just got a new laptop from work and is trying to install the mouse drivers onto it.

Here's the story in a nutshell. The mouse is really really old (old logitech trackball). Uses 3-buttons (current logitech driver on their website only lets her use 2-buttons). Drivers on floppy (she has no floppy drive on new laptop). Mouse was a Windows 95 mouse. She has an XP system now. Her last system was also XP with a floppy, so she was able to load the drivers and everything worked fine.

Don't ask why she doesn't just get a new mouse, I've tried already.

Here's the problem. I burned the files from the floppies to cd. When she tried to install, cannot file SETUPX.DLL comes up. After research, I see that is a Windows file. Any ideas on how to solve the problem?

I see setupx.dll file downloads all over the internet but don't know if I can trust them or not.
Is there a place I can download the file from safely?
Can I add the file to the disk I burned with the drivers?
Do I have to put the file somewhere else?
Will any of this even work?

Sorry, a lot of questions, but any help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

cannot file SETUPX.DLL comes up.

Cannot what? There should be more to the error message?
Might try using a flash drive or email to copy the files over to her drive.

Might also consider suprising her with a new mouse for Christmas:D

The easiest thing to do is use a USB floppy drive to install the old driver.
