Heyy. I just bought a new laptop, with Vista 64 pre-installed. I took the crapware off a startup (I'd rather not do a clean install because I actually like some of Dell's new crapware, and because I'm happy with the performance)

I do, however, want to partition my drives to at least keep the OS seperate from my data. When I use disk management I get the option to shrink the OS volume, but only by 111GB (leaving about 170GB on the OS drive). I'm defragmenting now, thinking that maybe some data is discontiguous and on the far side of the drive for some reason, and so it can't shrink beyond that, but I thought I'd run it by you guys while I'm waiting.

Edit: After looking into it now, apparently some system files are stored way out there (including the master table file.) I don't feel like dealing with all this. Might as well do a fresh install, eh?

You can use EASEUS partition manager..... It's free and it works well.
