HI all,
On my roomate's computer when he boots up Windows 98 several weird things happen. A MS-Dos box pops up and says "Wininit.exe can not be run from windows." Another message pops up and say that the file HSTPAW.EXE cannot be found. Then a third message appears and says that that RUNDL32 has performed an illegal opperation. Well we close all those windows and the computer seems to run alright but it sure is annoying, plus who knows what else might be affected?
So we both bought Norton system works and his system is virus-free and Norton says that there are no more errors yet these things still happen. Is there a way to figure out why it's doing these things at startup? I had the WININIT.EXE problem on my computer and deleting the file fixed it. Yet when I did it on his Windows refused to boot up, the computer just turned off so we had to unerase the WININIT.EXE file. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
