HD adapter

Is anyone sure this HD can be used with this USB adapter?

The HD seems to have too many pins for some adapters.

Yes, the extra pins are jumper pins.

The drive is a standard IDE drive and the adapter has a standard IDE connector...it should work fine as long as you power the drive and the drive works.

As far as I can remember the ATA-5 (Enhanced IDE) is reccommended for use with the 80wire IDE cable, so that adapter should be fine.

No, that is a 2.5" notebook IDE drive with a 44 pin data/power connector. The extra pins separated by a gap are jumper pins. It will be powered by USB, the adapter brick is not used.

Sorry Law my mistake, (that will teach me to try doing two things at once..:o )
Law you might need to jumper that drive as Master or Cable Select to get the USB adapter to see it. If this is the case be careful because the jumper tends to hinder the installation of the data plug. Very gently with your finger move the jumper pins slightly up or down, (move the jumper itself to move both pins at the same time rather than bending the pins with your finger) just enough to clear the data plug.
