Wireless desktop good or bad

I purchased my wireless desktop three years ago and it is still working great. It is the Microsoft Wireless Desktop 6000. It's the older version with keys that are raised more and a little less sleek but all the same. I've replaced the batteries in mouse several times but until today I haven't replaced the batteries in the keyboard. 3 years on one set of batteries. I would say that is pretty good.

I'll probably get a new keyboard and mouse when I build my next PC. I'm kind of hoping to get an illuminated board but I've only seen a few out there.

What are you guys using?

Any bad experiences with certain brands or specific product?

I second Logitech. Good products. Logitech has come a long way from when I first remember buying their stuff.

I've used Logitech personally for years now, though I've supplied Microsoft sets to customers with no complaints. These are the two brands I use exclusively now. Most others - manufacturers catering to 'gaming' peripherals like 'Razer' excepted - are substandard.

I have an illuminated keyboard - a Logitech G11. The quality is excellent, but it's not wireless (presumably illuminated wireless boards would eat batteries?), and I don't use the extra function keys. My mouse is a Logitech MX Revolution, which is easily one of my best computer-related buys.

I bought your exact wireless desktop set brand new on clearance. I'm typing on it right now actually, and haven't had any huge issues with it. Just...Vista will randomly lose the drivers and the mouse / keyboard has been known to randomly disconnect from the hub. Oh, and I typically get a low wireless signal warning once a day (just for fun, and even with new batteries!)...

Yeah, go Logitech. I've had some funky Logitech wireless laptop mice, but overall their products are top notch. I've had their z-5300e surround sound system for years without a hitch.

Yeah I like the keyboard and mouse. Mine doesn't have the same issue that yours does. I do have some trouble with the mouse not working or caps getting stuck on when I press shift. I'll probably go with the G11 when it goes on sale if it ever does and purchase a laser logitech mouse. I swear the batteries in lazer mice last three or four times as long, at least.
