Well the time has come to reinstall my OS. I currently am using Windows ME.This is my plan.
1. Go into the bios and check the "boot to CD rom drive first"
2. Go to the control panel\add-remove programs and uninstall ME
3. Put the Windows ME disk in the CD rom drive.
4. Restart the computer (should boot to CD rom drive)
5. Hopefully the Windows Setup will start

Will someone comfirm that this method will work, or is there a better way of doing this?
thanx larry

Why are you going to go to Add/Remove programs to un-install ME. If this was an upgrade of Win98 and the uninstall option is there, all it will do is return to the Win98 before you did the upgrade.

Boot from the CD and select the option to boot with CD support. If you are looking to format your drive and start from the beginning, run the following commands (Assuming your CD drive is D:\, if not, replace with the appropriate drive letter).

D:
CD WIN9X
FORMAT C:/Q

(Allow the format to complete, enter a volume label if desired)

SETUP

If all you want to do is install your WinME over top of your current installation to hopefully correct problems with WinME, run the following commands, once again, assuming your CD drive is D:\.

C:
CD WINDOWS
RENAME WIN.COM WIN.XXX
D:
SETUP

Make sure that if you are prompted for an installation directory that you rename it back to C:\WINDOWS from C:\WINDOWS.000 or else it will appear as a clean install. If this does happen, it is reversible.
