Recommended Scanner

I'm looking for a scanner to scan photos onto my computer for safe keeping. I have never had a scanner so I do not know what is good and what is overkill. What DPI? LED's or Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp, etc.

I'm really looking for the most bang for the buck and don't want to spend more than $200. Frankly, if there's a good one out there for less than $100 that would be great.

this is a hard one to get but at the same time a scanner is as only good as one likes their pictures to be reproduced... so I am going out on a limb and thinking this one would be the best representation for your art that was created originally from your device and hand.

I've had good luck with the Cannon LIDE line of scanners. They have several models under $100. I like the software that comes bundled with the Scanner. I have an older LIDE 50 that still works great.

Historically, for photo scanning I have been happiest with Epsons.
