View Full Version : Growing monitor problem - keeps losing signal

Got an Acer 19" ws monitor that i've had for about 3 years. Just lately it started to randomly lose signal and not able to get display back up without a restart. Used to happen only when screensaver kicked in but since disabling that it just happens when ever it wants.

Have replaced all the drivers and tested all connections.

I'm guessing that it might be a problem with the pc power supply (also 3 years and have worked beautifully together until recently)

Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems and can advise before i got splashing out on a new power supply if it is some other problem

Could we have your specs please, in particular what sort of graphics set up do you have (Integrated, pci-e card ? )?

Have you tried the monitor on another computer ?

A new power supply for the computer will not help the monitor unless that problem is the computer's graphics being starved for the necessary power.

Mobo is an asus M2A-VM HDMI with integrated ATI Radeon X1250. Looking on their site i can see and minimum power requirements.

Power supply is an Antec True 380 SP. Guess it's a way behind the times.

Any advice for a replacement? Got 3 sata HD to accomodate

You have to eliminate the monitor as the problem.
Does it work correctly when hooked up to another computer?

That power supply is strong enough to feed that motherboard with integrated graphics BUT if it's only a 20 pin, it could get cranky.

It's 20+4. checked the hardware monitor in bios and it's at 4.65v and 11.7v.

Seems alright after it's warmed up for an hour or so :confused:

Those voltages are low. Either the PSU is getting tired or the voltage regulators on the motherboard are not right.

Thanks for the reponses. going to get a new one as planning some upgrades next month
