Just wondering... can Windows 98 run on NTFS?

Nope, FAT16 or FAT32 only.

How do I determine what file system i'm using on an NT machine?
I have to walk a guy through fdisk and what not. I'm hoping he's on FAT16 so he wont have to deal with fdisk.
In NT, open My Computer, rightclick on C:, select properties. There you can read what the file system on the hard drive is (FAT16, 32 or NTFS).

Eric-
Also in NT, Disk Administrator will show you your partitions and what FAT you are running. Here is where you can make changes. Careful about deleting active partition(boot files).
