modem problems with win me

I have WinMe installe on my pc when I bought it from dell. Put evertime I log into the internet my connection will die within the hous. I went round and round with dell tech about this problem their solution was to but in a new modem.[that did not work]. I told them I thought it was the operating system and that I would try loading my 98 from my old pc to see if I was right[and I was] no more problems with disconnect. My question what in winme causes theat problem and what can I do to fix it. :(

Hardware compatability, more than likely. Go to Add/Remove Hardware>Modems for the Hardware Compatability List. You could try re-installing drivers. good luck.
