I've just put a comp. together with an Asus A7M266 board and an AMD Athlon T-Bird 1.400Gig. CPU. When I boot up It says my cpu is running at 1.050. I flashed my Bios to the latest one {1005} and then tried to boot up. There is a part of the bios where you can indicate the type of cpu at ether 1400 or 1.050 but when I chose the 1.4 it hangs up and wont run my windows xp . I was told to move my ram speed from 100 to 133 I did this but it didn't help. When I put the speed back to 1.050 it boots up to xp alright. Can anyone suggest anything to help?

Hello there,

I had the same problem with my mobo the other day. I'd look to make sure that the manufacturer doesn't have an update to the documentation. Right now your clock modifier is set to 100x10.5 (1050), there should be some jumper settings on your board that set it to 133x10.5 (1.4GHZ). Also, make sure that you're using pc133 memory for that 266FSB processor you have there.

Hi,

The correct settings for your athlon are 10.5x133, that is if you have the 266mhz fsb version. If you have the 200mhz fsb version your settings are 14x100. Which do you have? Also is your voltage set correctly? How about your other bios settings? HTH
