audio problem

i just put a my system together...everything runs fine except for the audio. My MB is a iwill Kk266-plus with onboard audio.
The problem is that only the right speaker channel is working when the mini jack is plugged in. I don't know if this is a problem with the BIOS, the BIOS for the onboard audio is enabled. Other than that, all I can think is that the MB may be bad. Any help...thx!!!

Hi jbp006,

Have you tried turning the mini-jack around in the port? That works for my system sometimes.

Also, check in Volume Control (double click on speaker icon by clock) to see if the Balance control is centered.

If you have access to another computer, try your speakers on it to see if the speakers are at fault. Likewise, you can try the other speakers on your system and see if you encounter the same thing. Will help you to identify exactly which component is at fault.

Sometimes when I move my systems around, the sound only comes out of one speaker. I have to twist/spin the mini-jack around in the port to get the sound to come out of both speakers. Sometimes I have to play with the speaker volume control knob too.

Have you tried any of the other sound ports? You're using the green one, right?

Have you tried a different set of working speakers on your board? If those don't work, your motherboard may be at fault.

My friend is using that same motherboard and said the on-board sound is pretty good. He never mentioned any problems with the sound ports though.

yeah!!.... f.y. anybody's i. i fixed it...it was a grounding problem. i had a stand off that was not screwed into the mb, i screwed it and that's that.. thnx for the help!

Congrats on the fix! Glad you didn't have to replace the motherboard. Funny how a simple thing like 1 missing screw can mess things up.
