SARGE

Airport confiscating tweezers and fingernail clippers while knives and a stun gun sneak through. 19 year old women in fatigues stand in the airport, an unloaded weapon hanging upside down across the back; surely a threat to a terrorist. News and military applaud how fast "the war" is succeeding, as though no overtime expected. We drop some bombs and defeat the guys who ran Russia and the British out? The Osama fella ain't no dope. He knew exactly how the reactionary Americans would respond. A terrorist doesn't strike when you expect, for that defeats the definition of terrorism.

My point is, once the dust has settled and we become fat and lazy again is when the next shoe will fall. I also believe the military is being lured into a box canyon, and who knows what is waiting. We make take the cities (ala Vietnam), but the countryside is where the enemy lurks. Dropping bombs and peanut butter sandwiches won't atone for the WTC, nor prevent another such action. We're the ones in a hurry, not the bad guys.

LawyerRon, did not say that. Said the opposite unless I made a typo. :D

Boy things are upside down. SARGE sounds Liberal and I am sounding Conserative.

No wonder Americans seem united. ;)

Bob, you can call me a red-necked Texan, or a dirty ***, or even call me for dinner, but don't call me a Liberal :p . If my post exudes a touch of liberalism, it's not by design. I've been around the horn a few times, and my post merely reflects lessons learned. Reread it and see if you don't agree with every point. I expressed the sentiments a few times verbally lately and was accused of being unpatriotic. One lady even accused me of being a "sexist" when pointing out the 19 year old girl carrying an unloaded weapon while "protecting the airport". Geez.

Is dinner lunch? If lunch I have to work. :D

//"girl carrying an unloaded weapon while "protecting the airport""//
I may have had to many but how can an unloaded wepon protect anything.

Is liberal a dirty word and conserative a "clean" word

Remember it ain't personal. Would love to go fishing with you SARGE.

Perhaps we should all carry weapons......then if a terrorist attacked he'd be out gunned...like the nit wit that tried an armed pobbery in a Montanna gunshop with 10 armed customers, 2 armed employees, and a sherrifs deputy inside. Needless to say he didn't survive to further polute the gene pool:D The point is there are a large number of ex law enforcement and military who would volunteer to serve as U.S Marshalls without pay if asked and be an unknown factor to anyone planning an operation that required intimidation like the 9-11 hijackings. I for one would, and I stay current with 9mm, .45 auto , AR-15, M-14 and (Sarge you'll love this one)...M1 garrand. I wonder if this has been suggested to the President?

In California the highway patrol has offered their services since they often fly to conferences.
