View Full Version : Lynksis Wireless G Won't Connect
I was trying to set up my Lynksis Wireless G 2.4 router. I'm using SBC Yahoo with a Motorola 2210-02 modem. The last time I used the router was with another computer and modem. I've gone through the steps, but when it gets to the part of checking my internet connection it reports that it can't connect to the internet.
I've shutdown everything. Rebooted. Check the cables. The lights on both the modem and router indicate go.
Any suggestions?
The 2210-02 is a router. You can't connect a router to a router without disabling the routing functions in one or the other.
What do I have to do? I've been trying to set it up as a PPoE.
I recommend you get the instructions for putting that 2210 in "bridge" mode, and set the Linksys up for PPPoE. That will convert the 2210 to a plain old modem and the Linksys will handle login and routing.
I tried that. The Linksys still wouldn't connect.
Tried all three modes.

Connect the modem directly to the computer, then select bridged mode on that page you posted.
Then connect the modem to the WAN port on the router, and your PC to LAN port 1. Do a hard reset on the router by unplugging the power, hold the reset button in, and then reconnect the power while continuing to hold the reset button in for 30 seconds.
Open a browser and go to http://192.168.1.1
Log in - leave the username blank, password is admin.
On the main setup page, choose PPPoE, enter your full SBC e-mail address for username (your master account), and your password. Check keepalive, set it to 20 seconds. This should get you Internet access once it logs itself in, give it 30 seconds or so. You can monitor the connect/disconnect on the WAN status page.
When I select bridge mode, the computer resets and I'm unable to connect to the internet any more when I do #1.
The page I go to is 192.168.1.254. It's set up a lot different.
1.254 is the MODEM page, not the Linksys page. You will NOT be able to connect to the Internet till you have the Linksys configured for PPPoE. Bridge the modem, THEN configure the Linksys as I indicated.
I'll try tonight after work. Thanks for your patience. I'm a bit of a concrete thinker at times.
Thank you. Just a little hard headed. It works just fine. Now I can buy myself a little Netbook, Asus eee pc901.
