Hi,
My Buddy asked me what Virus Software to get, I told him I thought Norton 2002 was pretty good. Symantec sold him System Works saying how wonderful it is and it was only $10 more. Well I told him it created more problems for me than it solved and to only install the virus protection. He said he can't, it doesn't give that option. Is this true? You used to be able to install any of the programs individually. Before I go over there does anyone know if you can just install the virus protection in System Works? I wonder if you can still run the other programs from the CD without installing them? I looked on their site and it wasn't very helpful.
TIA

I dont think you can install only the av alone. By default you are forced to install some of the programs like one button check up and a few others. Programs like wipe info and clean sweep are optional.

YES, you can install just the AV. There is a section that was probably missed while clicking next, next, next, next..... You must uncheck everything except the AV. I have it, and it's there.

It seems like I tired that just the other day when reinstalling (advanced install) and there was one option that was checked and greyed out so that it couldnt be unchecked. I was installing norton system works 2001 pro. What version are you talking about hal?

Thanks guys, I'll look for that Hal9000. I didn't want to drive 45 Min for nothing. I am talking about the latest, System Works 2002, as he just bought it online off their site.

Both the 2001 version and the 2002 version. Both can have just the AV installed.

Here is a pic of my desktop running the 2002 install with everything disabled except the AV, 2001 is similar.

Which bits of Norton System Works cause problems?
I want to use Ghost.

Ghost is fine, and the Norton AV is fine, don't bother with anything else.
