I posted a thread about a week ago with the following problem. My display settings were stuck on 800 x 600 res and 16 bit color and could not be changed. If I would go to play quake 3 I would get an error message in console saying "opengl subsytem could not be opened" Any game I would go to play would give me some sort of error message and or hang on startup. I was having this problem on 2 diffrent comps ,on a lan, with totally diffrent components. After hours of reinstalling games, drives, and dx nothing seemed to work. After searching the internet I finally found out what the problem was. I had netmeeting running on bootup on both comps and there is something in netmeeting that affects Direct3D and if you have it running you wont be able to play games.
Do you guys know of any other programs that are similar to netmeeting like aim or icq that can be ran over a lan without being connected to the internet? I run aim over the internet and seldomly use icq anymore. Can icq be configured to run on a lan without being connected to the internet?

Nope, but you can use Winpopup. Installable in Windows Setup, system tools.
