I converted some midi files to wav files however when i try to record them onto a cd, it tells me they are not a valid wav file. I have done this before. Any help?

Some burner programs will only 'see' a wav file if you used 44.1 or 32K and either 8 or 16 bit resolution. If you used 48K, that's not compatable with a consumer CD player and ost burner programs cannot down convert to 44.1K.

Well I converted some MP3s to WAV to make a custom CD from my music collection, and had the same problem wit' one of the files. I use Nero 4.0 for burning.

Any ideas anyone?

I check my file and yes, it is 48K. You say that most programs cannot "down convert it", but do you know of some that can?

The free winamp player will not only play mp3's but will also convert them .wav files that you can burn onto a cd with no problems. www.winamp.com HTH

Maybe CDex (http://www.cdex.n3.net) would convert?

Converting from 48K to 44.1K sounds easy -- but many programs have a difficult time with it. Try Cool Edit or Goldwave, they are both shareware audio editors that are capable of re-sampling.

Oh man...haven't seen AMF files in years! Back to my OS/2 days.

Well, AMF files are DSMI MODS based in OS/2. MODPlug Player will play them -- don't think it can export. As I recall, there was a program called MODPlug Tracker from the same guy who wrote the Player that will convert those files.

I'll search around and see what I can find.

Gee, It turns out that I had MODPlug Player in my PC all along.

But I've followed the link you provided and downloaded MODPlug Tracker, and voilà, my amf's are now wav and mp3 files.

Glad to help. I had a feeling if you had AMF files, you had to be using some form of MOD player and in all likelyhood, it was MODPlug Player. But most people that have MOD's don't have a clue that Tracker even exists, much less what it does.
