View Full Version : Removing the shortcut arrow
I won't bore you with the details as to why I want to this but I remember someone showing me how to remove the arrow from a shortcut icon. Anyone out there sad enough to know how to do this and willing to admit it?!
Any help greatly appreciated.

with TweakUI
Download TweakUI (http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/tweakui) .
This was something I simply did from within Windows without any 3rd party apps but it was too long ago to remember. Thanks for the info, I'm not sure about the policy here regards downloading and using this within the corporate environment. Cheers anyway.

Open your registry and delete the value named 'IsShortCut' from the keys [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile] and [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile].
Note. You play with your registry at your own risk.
Would this not make the change globaly? With the method I originally used you only altered the icon in question and it didn't involve going into the registry.
Awkward bugger aren't I!
