I just installed a new Geforce2 MX card and my PC has since started hanging on me. One suggestion was overheating. So, I looked inside the PC and yes the Geforce chip is boiling hot to the touch. So, I am presuming that this is causing the hanging. My previous TNT card had a fan attached, and so this may have avoided the problem.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to how I can stop the chip overheating? I have shifted some PCI cards so it has more breathing room. Should I fit one or both of a chip mounted fan (if possible) or a PC fan? Or should I simply get another card which has a fan attached? Is this a common problem with MX cards? Finally any other suggestions as to the cause of the hanging?

Many thanks for your assistance. Gratefully received!

Get or build a card rack cooler, is the easiest way. The first link shows how to build one, the second link is where you can purchase a really big high output one

Nice one Morris,

I must try making one of those when I have time.

If you can't be bothered drilling Jukebox and you have a free PCI slot, you could also try an PCI Exhaust Blower. I use one and it seems very effective.

Hmmm...it's a busy night tonight...Zonealarm is throwing up warnings every 30 seconds.
