Screen shake

I moved my computer into a different room and now my video image has a noticeable 'shake'. Shake is worse the higher the refresh rate. Have tried it with different video cards, refresh rates and computers - always shakes. Tried different power sources (even extension cord to different part of home) - still shakes. Moved out of the room - everything is fine! Moved back in - shakes! So ... something about the room is a problem. Would this be EMI interference? The room is bare except for a desk, incadescent table lamp, and a ceiling fan. Could the ceiling fan motor magnets be my problem? I'm stumped! Is there any way to block EMI? Any way to do a definitive test for it? Am I chasing the wrong problem? Help!

A magnetic field is causing your monitor to shake, search for a source for magnetic field and remove it!

I would guess that the ceiling fan is the culprit. Fans generate powerful magnetic feilds. Try turning it off to test this.

My monitor wiggles every time the kids turn on the TV set in the room on the opposite side of the wall. Basically my monitor and TV are back to back with a wall in the middle.

Have some new info to shed on the matter. Set the monitor up in the room in question and of course it experienced 'shake'. Ceiling fan on or off does not make a difference. However, did run power to the monitor from another part of the house - still 'shakes'. Then .... still running in the bedroom but powered from another part of the house, turned off the power circuit to the bedroom ... presto - no shake! My conclusion - somehow power to that room is causing EMI somewhere and my monitor is sensitive to it. Now ... how do I trouble shoot further? I've pulled every plug, switch and fixture to check the wiring (have experience) and they all appear correct to me. Not sure what else I can do ...?

I had that problem once, and i traced it back to a junction box. Check to see if you have one in the vicinity of the room. If you do, make sure the wire nuts are tight, and that the lid is on. Fiberglass/composite lids work a little better than the steel ones, as they absorb some of the EMF. If all else fails, try wrapping a little foam rubber around the junction box.

just recently my monitor has started to shake, sometime a little other times a lot. It also has started to go black, at which time I have to turn off the power button to it or restart my pc. I'm thinking it's my power supply. Any help on this matter?
